Paver Sealing Cost in Miami: What to Expect

Paver sealing is priced separately from cleaning, and the two always go together in that order. Cleaning first, sealing second. Here is what to expect and why the sequence is not negotiable.

Cleaning comes first, every time

A sealer locks the surface in the state it is in. If the pavers are dirty, stained, or growing algae, sealing traps all of it under a permanent coat. That is why any honest paver job is two steps: a proper clean, then sealing once the surface is dry and clean. Anyone who offers to seal pavers without cleaning them first is selling you a sealed-in mess.

What changes the price

Paver type. Concrete pavers, clay brick, and travertine all drink sealer differently. Travertine and natural stone are porous and need a penetrating sealer, which behaves differently from the film-forming sealers used on concrete pavers.

Square footage and layout. A simple rectangular patio seals faster than a winding pool deck with planters, steps, and tight borders.

Condition. Heavily stained or long-neglected pavers need more cleaning work before sealing, which moves the total.

Why sealing pays for itself

Sealed pavers resist algae, stains, and fading, and they are far easier to rinse clean on the next visit. In practice that means longer gaps between cleanings and a surface that holds its color through the South Florida sun. It is most worth doing on pool decks and high-traffic patios, the surfaces that otherwise green up fastest.

We clean pavers as part of patio and pool deck service. Ask for a cleaning-plus-sealing number on the quote page and we will price both steps together.

Common Questions

Do pavers need to be cleaned before sealing?
Always. Sealing locks in whatever is on the surface. Seal over algae, dirt, or old stains and you seal them in permanently. Cleaning first is not an upsell, it is the only way sealing works.

How often do pavers need resealing?
In South Florida, roughly every two to three years, sooner for a pool deck that takes constant sun, splash-out, and foot traffic. Sealing slows down algae and stains, it does not stop them forever.

Does sealing make pavers slippery?
It can if the wrong product is used. Around pools, a matte penetrating sealer is the safer choice than a glossy film-forming one, which is exactly where surface and product knowledge matters.
